This work follows on from my 2013 work 'Self portrait as an Ultra-Nationalist'. Once again I have used symbols of Australian nationalism to examine the increasingly adversarial nature of the 'Aussie' identity, what being Australian means, and what being Australian doesn't mean. I want to explore the perpetuation of the 'us' and 'them' mentality that permeates Australian culture and was revealed to the world during the 2005 Cronulla riots.
