After living in other cities for a couple of years I came to the realisation that for me, most cities are more the same than different, and what differentiates them is the people in them. This series of paintings celebrates some of the people who have made Perth such a wonderful place to live. People are complicated creatures capable of a diverse range of emotions, but in these paintings I wanted to concentrate on their desires, hopes and enthusiasm for life. Whether it is showering them in confetti or covering them in gold, I wanted to elevate their portrayal to what I feel they all deserve. I love each and every one of my subjects, they are my friends and my experience is enriched by their company.
